Deadline for Snow Assistance Approaching
Cudahy seniors who need help with snow shoveling this winter are asked to call Cudahy-St. Francis Interfaith by Dec. 1. A grant from the city of Cudahy allows Interfaith to pay students to shovel the public paths for seniors when snowfall is 4 inches or more. To qualify for this program, a resident must be at least 60 years of age and have no other family members able to assist them. Driveways and paths other than the public sidewalk and path to the mailbox are not covered by the program, but residents can negotiate with the student to pay for this themselves.
Interfaith attempts to match students with seniors in their general vicinity. Currently, shovelers are most needed south of Grange Avenue, especially in the neighborhoods along Ramsey Avenue between Packard and Lake Drive and between Pennsylvania and Barland. The pay is $7.25/hour. To register for assistance, or apply for employment, call 483-4474.
