A 24-year-old Cudahy woman was arrested for armed robbery after she entered Speedway Gas Station, 4944 S. Packard Ave., about 2:40 a.m. Nov. 17, wearing a mask and demanded money. The woman implied she had a weapon to the clerk, and made off with about $100. The suspect's brother called police about a half-hour later believing his sister was the one involved in the robbery; a short while later she was arrested at their home in the 4900 block of South Hately Avenue. The woman told police that she was approached by three black men who told her she had to rob the gas station or that they would kill her. After she robbed the gas station, she told police the three men were no longer outside; she then went home and confessed the robbery to her brother. During her interrogation later that morning she finally admitted to police she had not been approached by any men to coerce her into the robbery. The investigation determined that her brother was also involved in the robbery. The plan was apparently his idea and he drove her to the gas station and then back to their home following the robbery. They were apparently planning to use the money to support their prescription drug addiction. The woman also has a history of swindling money out of family and friends by telling them she is sick and needs money to pay for her health care. Her past fraudulent medical issues that she received money for include a brain tumor, abortion and other illnesses; her grandmother even gave her money designated for her burial plot to help pay for one of her granddaughter's illnesses. Police have opened investigations into these fraudulent claims as well. Both the woman and her brother are being held in the Milwaukee County Detention Center.

The incident began while the two were shopping on Black Friday at Kmart in Cudahy. She asked the man if he was planning to contribute money to purchase gifts for her grandchildren. He became upset by the question and said "no." They then took a bus back toward their apartment, but stopped to have a few drinks at a nearby bar. The two decided to have dinner at the bar; he asked her what she wanted to eat, she said crab legs. The suspected responded saying: "(expletive) crab legs, you are a crazy (expletive)." They then began arguing about dinner and later left for home. When they arrived home the woman told police she placed two four-packs of beer in the refrigerator, but when she closed the refrigerator door the suspect punched her in the back of the head and called her inappropriate names. As she tried to leave the home he threw her down the staircase. The woman told police that earlier in the month, he punched her repeatedly in the head, causing a concussion.
