After investigating the source of opiate deaths last year, Cudahy police have been involved in four heroin busts.
According to Cudahy police reports:
In December, a 32-year-old Greenfield man was arrested for possessing heroin with intent to deliver. Police had been conducting an on-going heroin investigation with the man being identified as a supplier. A confidential informant told police the man was selling 30 to 40 grams of heroin every three to four days to street dealers in Cudahy.
Detective Dala Milosavljevic said one gram of heroin is worth between $100 and $140 on the street.
Police executed a search warrant at the man's residence in the 6700 block of West Layton Avenue, and seized 39.2 grams of heroin and $287 from drug sales. A pit bull was shot and killed by officers during the search.
An 18-year-old Hales Corners man was arrested for possession of heroin with intent to deliver. The man had been purchasing 1 to 2 grams from the 32-year-old Greenfield man almost on a daily basis, and reselling it.
While homicide charges are pending, police believe the 18-year-old Hales Corners man sold heroin to a 20-year-old Cudahy man who died of a heroin overdose last December.
A month later on Jan. 26, Cudahy police executed a drug-related search warrant of a residence in the 3500 block of East Cudahy Avenue.
When police arrived, the 30-year-old Cudahy man was in the process of packaging heroin and a 27-year-old Milwaukee woman was there to purchase the drug.
Officers confiscated about 14 grams of heroin, $1,779, packaging material and drug paraphernalia. The man admitted that he was selling heroin out of a basement window at his residence, which he shared with his 20-year-old girlfriend.
The man was arrested for possessing heroin with intent to deliver and maintaining a drug trafficking place.
He told police he started selling $20 bags of heroin a month ago to about 18 regular customers. He was picking up 40 grams every two to three days from a source in Chicago.
At about 10 a.m. Jan. 28, Cudahy police arrested a 40-year-old Chicago man for manufacturing and delivering heroin in the 3500 block of East Cudahy Avenue. A 49-year-old Milwaukee man was also arrested for possessing heroin with intent to deliver.
An informant told police the Chicago man was arriving to meet with a Milwaukee man to exchange 40 to 50 grams of heroin for $4,000.
Cudahy police also arrested a 30-year-old Greendale man, a Milwaukee school teacher, in the 3500 block of East Cudahy Avenue about 10 p.m. Jan. 28. The man was a Milwaukee Public School teacher, who attempted to purchase a fourth of a gram of heroin.
Nine opiate-related deaths were confirmed by police last year in Cudahy.
