Police Report: Sept. 23

CUDAHY

BURGLARY

· A white, middle-aged man unsuccessfully attempted to rob Papa Luigi's restaurant, 3475 E. Layton Ave., at 6:59 p.m. Sept. 16, by implying to a cashier that he had a gun in his pocket. The cashier, confident that the man did not actually have a gun, ignored the demand and called her manager over, at which point the man quickly left the restaurant. The man has notbeen identified.

THEFT

· The $150, front, passenger-side window of a car was smashed and a purse stolen from inside while the car was parked in the lot of Blast Fitness, 2525 E. Layton Ave., between 6 and 7 p.m. Sept. 12. The $100 purse contained a $50 wallet, bank cards, identification cards, medication and pepper spray for a total loss of $581 including the window. A bank card was also used at Layton Mart and Pick 'n Save in St. Francis for combined purchases of $100. The theft was not reported until Sept. 16.

· A 1997 Honda Civic valued at $2,000 was found to have been stolen from the driveway of a residence in the 3700 block of East Edgerton Avenue between 10 p.m. Sept. 12 and 8 a.m. Sept. 13, after a Milwaukee Police officer reported to Cudahy police that the vehicle had been found abandoned in the 2900 block of West Wentworth Avenue in Milwaukee. The victim reported that a $115 set of two knives, a $200 car radio and a $50 GPS system were stolen from inside the car. The car bore no signs of forced-entry.

· A $105 aluminum ladder was stolen from the yard of a residence in the 3700 block of East Allerton Avenue between 12 and 12:15 p.m. Sept. 16.

· Five Duragesic patches and 46 oxycodone pills were reported stolen from a residence in the 5300 block of Nicholson Avenue at 5:34 p.m. Sept. 17, and could have been stolen from the victim's bedroom anytime during the preceding week.

· Three bikes, each worth $150, were stolen from the backyard of a residence in the 5500 block of South Illinois Avenue between 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 and 2:30 a.m. Sept. 18. The bikes were all locked to a gas meter pipe.

ASSAULT

· A 32-year-old Cudahy man is wanted for battery, strangulation, theft, vandalism and bail jumping after the mother of his two children called police to report that the man had beaten her, pinned her against a wall by her throat, broke her cellphone and then stole her car and severely damaged it at their residence at 12:28 p.m. Sept. 21. According to the 28-year-old victim, the incident began when the man accused her of cheating on him, and he threw and broke her $300 cellphone. He then punched her five times in the face while she was holding their three-week-old son, pinned her against a wall by the neck and choked her for five seconds, and threatened both to kill her and harm the children if she was cheating or reported the incident to police. Both of their children, the man's niece and the man's mother were present at the time, and the man pushed his mother away when she attempted to stop the incident. The man then took $150 out of the woman's wallet, the key to her car and their 3-year-old daughter and left. Eventually the man gave up the girl and the car to a relative of the victim, but the car had dents and scratches to the body, gouges in the dashboard, broken-off handles, a shattered stereo and other damages that amounted to about $3,000 to repair, more than the value of the car. A money order for $590 was also stolen from the glove compartment. The man agreed to turn himself in to Cudahy police at 7 p.m. Sept. 21, but failed to appear. The man has two other domestic violence cases pending with the same woman, including a no-contact order.

DRUG POSSESSION

· A 15-year-old Cudahy boy was arrested for possession of marijuana at Cudahy High School, 4950 S. Lake Drive, at 9:45 a.m. Sept. 17 after administrators noticed that he smelled like marijuana and a search of his person turned up a small, 3/8-inch-long roach.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

· A 25-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, first offense, during a traffic stop in the 1900 block of East College Avenue at 3:58 a.m. Sept. 15 after the man swerved out of his lane several times. After the field sobriety tests, the man nonthreateningly told police that he had a 9-inch folding knife concealed in his pocket, which police removed and secured. The man had a blood alcohol content of 0.18. He was also cited for unsafe lane deviation and carrying a concealed weapon.

VANDALISM

· Graffiti consisting of the letters "J" and "R" was found spray-painted in white on the north wall of the Cudahy Park pavilion, 3000 E. Ramsey Ave., between 8 p.m. Sept. 13 and 8 a.m. Sept. 14. The paint will cost $50 to remove.

OTHER

· A 45-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for disorderly conduct in the 3700 block of East Underwood Avenue at 4:05 p.m. Sept. 12 after a resident reported the woman was urinating in her yard. Police found the woman sitting in the yard drunk, with her pants below her buttocks and a bin of clothing strewn around the yard, where they arrested her. She was later taken to the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex after she requested psychiatric help.

· A 32-year-old Cudahy man and two 30-year-old Cudahy women were arrested for disorderly conduct after they were involved in a loud exchange of insults and threats outside of a residence in the 3700 block of East Edgerton Avenue at 6:38 p.m. Sept. 14. The man and one woman were arrested on the scene and the second woman was arrested when she reported to the Cudahy Police station later that evening.

· A 19-year-old Cudahy man was arrested for obstructing an officer during a traffic stop in at Edgerton and Nicholson avenues at 8:48 a.m. Sept 19, after he was defiant and argumentative with police during the stop. The man was arrested when he stood in front of an officer to prevent him from reading his vehicle identification number and refused to step aside. He also had a warrant out for his arrest for failure to pay a fine. In addition to obstructing, he was also cited for displaying unauthorized registration on his car, driving after suspension and driving without insurance.

· Cudahy police responded to two domestic incidents between Sept. 15 and Sept. 21.

ST. FRANCIS

DRUNKEN DRIVING

· A 37-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested to drunken driving, first offense, during a traffic stop in the 3700 block of South Kinnickinnic Avenue at 4:05 p.m. Sept. 16 after a nearby driver saw the woman swerving severely in traffic, cross the center line several times and hit numerous cars, and he followed her while calling for police until he was able to direct police to her location. The woman refused to enter the squad car after she was arrested, saying that she had done nothing wrong, despite failing her sobriety tests, including reciting the alphabet. The woman had a BAC of 0.29.

OTHER

· A 22-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for obstructing an officer in the 4500 block of South Whitnall Avenue at 6:48 p.m. Sept. 17 after he was pulled over for suspended registration on his car. The man gave an incorrect name and birth date to police in order to conceal the fact that he had two warrants out for his arrest for operating after revocation with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department and the Kenosha Joint Services. The man was additionally cited for not having registration and for not having insurance.

SOUTH MILWAUKEE

THEFT

· A 30-year-old Cudahy man was cited for theft at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at the South Milwaukee Police station after he admitted to stealing numerous packs of cigarettes from Kings Row Liquor, 1202 Milwaukee Ave., during a brief period of employment there earlier in the month.

· A $600 set of headphones, a $500 laptop computer, a $50 travel bag, $220 in cash and other items were reported stolen from a residence in the 600 block of Marshall Avenue between 4 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sept. 14.

· The hood of a car was stolen while the car was parked in the 500 block of 11th Avenue between midnight and 6 a.m. Sept. 16. The hood was valued at $200.

· Items were taken from seven boys lockers at South Milwaukee High School, 801 15th Ave., during football practice between 3:15 and 6 p.m. Sept. 16. At least one smartphone was stolen from the lockers.

· A $300 motor was reported stolen from the back of a boat in the 600 block of Montana Avenue at 6:24 p.m. Sept. 16.

· A smartphone and a pair of shoes were reported stolen from a locker room at South Milwaukee Middle School, 1001 15th Ave., at 8:35 p.m. Sept. 16. Both items were collectively valued at $350.

· A cooler and five bags of cans were reported stolen from a storage locker in the 3400 block of South Chicago Avenue at 11:26 p.m. Sept. 16. The items were collectively valued at $35.

· Checks amounting to $10,441 and $331 in cash were stolen from the desk of an office at Martin Dental, 1001 Madison Ave., between 5:30 p.m. Sept. 18 and 3 p.m. Sept. 19.

· A phone, a set of headphones and cash, collectively valued at $331, were reported stolen from a locker at South Milwaukee High School, 801 15th Ave., between 4:30 and 7 p.m. Sept. 19.

· A 22-year-old Milwaukee man was accused of stealing his ex-girlfriend's cellphone from her residence in the 300 block of Marquette Avenue between 9 and 11 a.m. Sept. 16 after forcing the door open. The state-issued phone was valued at $1.

VANDALISM

· The valves on three tires were damaged causing the tires to deflate on a car parked in the 400 block of Southtowne Place between 9 p.m. Sept. 18 and 6:45 a.m. Sept. 19. The damage will cost about $25 to repair.

OTHER

· A 24-year-old Oak Creek woman was arrested for disorderly conduct after she repeatedly shouted profanely in and around Booster's Sports Bar, 1115 Milwaukee Ave., while police were investigating a report of a fight there at 1:49 a.m. Sept. 14. The woman ignored warnings from responding officers for her to calm down numerous times, as police were closing the bar to prevent further incidents. A man was found bleeding at the bar who was involved in the altercation that police came to investigate, but the other man had fled and numerous people in the bar broke up the fight. No one was cited for the fight.

· A 51-year-old South Milwaukee man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he was caught urinating on a building in the 900 block of Milwaukee Avenue at 5:34 p.m. Sept. 14. The man had come to the building, which holds PJ's Deli, 921 Milwaukee Ave., earlier and was asking for food and money. One of the employees gave him a sandwich, a soda and a bus pass and told him to not return. Employees caught him two hours later urinating on the building, which prompted them to call police.

· A 15-year-old Oak Creek girl and a 14-year-old South Milwaukee girl were arrested for underage drinking and curfew violations on the grounds of Lakeview Elementary School, 711 Marion Ave., at 1:05 a.m. Sept. 15. Two other children fled on foot as police arrived and were not caught. They were also found with an 18-year-old South Milwaukee man who was found not to have been drinking and was released.

· A 33-year-old South Milwaukee man was arrested for disorderly conduct at his residence in the 800 block of Hawthorne Avenue after police were called there by a neighbor at 7:38 a.m. Sept. 18 because the man had been drunkenly and profanely shouting in his apartment since 4 a.m.

· A 15-year-old Milwaukee girl was arrested for disorderly conduct at South Milwaukee High School, 801 15th Ave., at 2:56 p.m. Sept. 18, after she was loudly and profanely argumentative with school administrators and officers investigating a truancy incident. Three other students were also issued truancy citations later that afternoon.

· A 21-year-old Muskego woman was cited for disorderly conduct at Grant Park, 100 Hawthorne Ave., at 6:15 p.m. Sept. 19 after she was found posing in a nude photo shoot on the main beach. The woman, not wearing a top, was covering her breasts with her hands and rushed to put her top back on when police arrived. The 46-year-old South Milwaukee man taking her photos was not cited.

· An 18-year-old South Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia at a residence in the 700 block of Madison Avenue at 8:39 p.m. Sept. 20 after he was identified as the owner of the pipe being used by at least some of the 12 teenagers gathered at the house.

· South Milwaukee Police responded to 12 domestic incidents between Sept. 14 and Sept. 20.

FIRE CALL

· A fire was reported at a residence in the 300 block of North Chicago Avenue at 10:11 a.m., which spread to a set of curtains, a couch and a wall in a room. No one was reported injured.
