Cudahy High School, Making it Count

On September 17, Cudahy High School will hold the interactive presentation Making it Count for incoming freshman.  The Making High School Count presentation tells first-semester high school freshmen how to recognize their potential for future success and how to make the most of their high school experience.

Students also:

  • Learn tips for a successful transition into high school.

  • Realize the importance of grades to achieve current and future goals.

  • Learn test-taking strategies, which enable them to get better grades.

  • Develop important skills through active involvement in extracurricular activities.

  • Learn study skills to make their study time more effective.

Character Education, Kosciuszko, Playpals

At Kosciuszko school, a new extra-curricular group called Playpals has been created to improve the quality of games on the playground.

For this group, responsible students exhibiting certain leadership skills were selected by teachers to participate in the program. During the month of September, the Playpal advisors and Mr. Katte will train the students and work to develop their skills so that they can lead games, model good sportsmanship, and demonstrate sound problem-solving skills on the playground.

Hopefully, the Playpals will be ready, trained, and out on the playground in early October.

Five Days of No Tardies ...

At Kosciuszko school, the first day of school came and went with no tardy students!

This is a wonderful accomplishment, since a lot of the staff do not recall a day with no tardies.  Mr. Katte, the school principal, congratulated the students and told them if they have five days with no tardies this school year, he will shave his head!  We will keep you informed!

Bulldog Boosters

Bulldog Boosters, Cudahy Middle School

At the Cudahy Middle School, the Bulldog Boosters allow middle school parents to sit down with school administration to talk about middle school issues.  These meetings educate parents on topics that affect adolescent youth while their children go through middle school.

At the first meeting, parents received information about the SOS (Signs of Suicide) program. The SOS program is a topic that health classes plan to highlight this semester. Next month, we discuss Nature's Classroom!

Reading Buddies

At the Cudahy Elementary Schools, the kindergarten students just met their reading buddies.

Reading buddies is a program throughout the school district that benefits and excites both age groups!  The younger children, either 4-year old kindergarten or 5-year old kindergarten, love the one-on-one attention they receive from their buddy.  They are also excited to become friends with a "big kid" and friendships form very quickly.
