March 2 - Read Across America Day
On March 2nd, Kosciuszko Elementary School participated in the national READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY promoting reading while honoring Dr. Seuss's birthday. Students came to school today dressed like a favorite book character.
After the morning’s announcements, Principal Joel Katte read The Story of Ferdinand aloud on the PA system. Throughout the day, teachers switched classes so that students could hear other staff members read stories to them. Kozy also celebrated the day by having a "Drop Everything And Read" time from 2:30 to 2:45 P.M.
In addition, Kozy students enjoyed guest readers: Cudahy Schools Superintendent Jim Heiden, Mayor Ryan McCue, Cudahy Middle School Associate Principal Michael Moore, Cudahy High School teacher Don Albee, Cudahy Fire Department’s Robert Schmidt and Gary Posda, and the city’s Superintendent of the Water Department Frank Miller. Kozy staff and students finished the day by taking the "Read Across America Reader's Oath" pledging to read each day and each night.
