Tonight, Cudahy High School will be having its Senior Recognition Program.

The Senior Recognition Program focuses on the academic success and accomplishments of the students at Cudahy High School. Specifically, this event acknowledges the students who receive academic recognition, departmental recognition, and scholarship recognition. Congratulations to all the amazing students honored at this event.

On May 31, Cudahy High School held its annual Choir Banquet. Congratulations to the following award winners:

Citizenship award for Treble choir: Kimberly Garlie

Exemplary Soloist award from State Solo/Ensemble: Sarah Zarr

Fred Waring Directors Award: Hannah Peronto

National School Choral Award: Melissa Piggott

Highlights from the evening included recognition of each senior with a flower and a short speech from Mr. Johnston about each student, and a slideshow at the end of the evening featuring pictures from all of the concerts, assemblies, the musical, the New Orleans trip, and a photo of each senior.

2011 Cudahy High School Renaissance Award Winners

Cudahy High School, Renaissance Awards

On Thursday, May 26 at 9 a.m., Cudahy High School held its annual Renaissance Assembly in the high school auditorium. At the assembly, more than 200 Cudahy High School students were honored for their work in the classroom throughout the 2010-2011 school year. To receive an invitation to the assembly, students must have either earned a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or achieved perfect attendance for each of the first three quarters of the school year. Winners of the Renaissance student of the month awards during this school year also received an invitation to the assembly.

The mission of Cudahy High School’s Renaissance Program is to recognize the efforts of students in the classroom. In addition to the year-end assembly, Renaissance rewards students every quarter if the students earn a GPA of 3.0 or higher, if they achieve perfect attendance, or if they improve their GPA by .5 or more from the previous quarter. Together, we celebrate with and recognize the accomplishments of our students.

Concert Choir Trip to New Orleans

Laissez les bon temps rouler! (Let the good times roll) is what they say in New Orleans.

Over spring break the Cudahy High School Concert Choir and Chaperones went on a trip to New Orleans, LA and did indeed let the good times roll. Performance highlights included a performance at Jackson Square in the French Quarter, Patriotic music at the National D-Day museum, and Steamboat cruise with an impromptu performance with the “Dukes of Dixieland”. Other touring highlights include Mardis Gras World, an above ground cemetery tour, a walking tour of the French quarter, the Audubon Aquarium, a swamp tour on the bayou, and eating plenty of the Cajun and Creole cuisine that New Orleans is famous for. While in the city the students also were able to experience many live performances by Jazz musicians because “Jazz Fest” was going on at the time. The students represented the high school and the city very well and they were extremely well behaved and polite to everyone they met. The trip was a huge success! Thank you to all of the parents and chaperones who made this all possible.
