Student Trip to City Hall
At Kosciuszko School, 3rd grade students went on a field trip to City Hall. On this trip, the kids met mayor Ryan McCue. They did a mock common council, saw how 911 calls work, and met the head of the health department. The mayor was really great with the kids and took a picture with each child for a souvenir. The students learned a lot of this trip and had a wonderful time!

Senior Recognition
On June 4, Cudahy High School will be having its Senior Recognition Program.
The Senior Recognition Program focuses on the academic success and accomplishments of the students at Cudahy High School. Specifically, this event acknowledges the students who receive academic recognition, departmental recognition, and scholarship recognition. Congratulations to all the amazing students honored at this event.
2nd Annual Family Health and Safety Day
Everyone is invited to attend the 2nd Annual Family Health and Safety Day at Lincoln School.

Reading Buddies and a Gift for Mom
At Kosciuszko School, the 5th grade reading buddies helped the kindergarten classes make Mother's Day gifts for mom. For this project, the students took huge safety pins and put beads on it with a charm saying MOM in the middle of the beads.
This project between grades provided not only a beautiful gift for mom but also a wonderful experience for the kids.
Jazz Cafe
On Saturday, June 7, Cudahy High School will host the Jazz Cafe. The Jazz Cafe will feature Big Band Jazz music and swing dancing. Food and beverages will be available for purchase and there will also be a silent auction.
Renaissance Assembly Awards
On Thursday, May 29, Cudahy High School recognized nearly 250 students at its annual Renaissance Assembly. Students earned invitations to this assembly for several reasons, including earning high honors or honors for each of the first three quarters this school year, achieving perfect attendance every quarter this school year, demonstrating significant improvement in grade point average, or being named Renaissance Student of the Month at some time this school year.
Students earned the following awards:
- Academic letters if this is the first year they achieved high honors (3.50 or higher GPA) for each of the first three quarters
- Silver medals if this is the second year they achieved high honors for each of the first three quarters
- Gold medals if this is the third year they achieved high honors for each of the first three quarters
- Plaques if this is the fourth year they achieved high honors for each of the first three quarters
The following 11 seniors earned plaques: Katia de la Cruz, Christina Fons, Brad Gear, Bobby Johnson, Adam Lockwood, Caley Milton, Mike Seefeld, Jonnine Verburgt, Jackie Wagner, Amber Wesela, and Colleen Woyach.
Personal Finance Students Score in the Top 25 Percent
46,000 high school students nation-wide participated in the Financial Literacy Challenge. At Cudahy High School, nearly half the students who took this Challenge scored in the top 25%. The students who participated in the Challenge are all members of Mr. Jones' Personal Finance course. Congratulations to the following 11 students who will receive certificates of recognition from the US Department of Treasury for their performance on the National Financial Literacy Challenge:

Bridge Builders
At Lincoln School, 6th grade students from Mrs. Stark and Mr. Casper's class recently worked on architecture project.
The project is called Bridge Building. The students formed teams that consisted of an architect, an accountant, and a project director. These teams were then required to build a bridge that was aesthetically pleasing as well as strong. The students were given a budget of over a million dollars to "purchase" the supplies needed to build the bridges. These supplies included little wood sticks and wood glue.
The bridge breaking ceremony was held on Tuesday, June 10th at Lincoln School. The bridge that held the most weight was declared the strongest bridge. There were other awards given this day as well.
Mayor McCue and City Engineer Craig Faucett came to critique the bridges and gave advice on how they could improve their bridges. The students really enjoyed meeting them and listening to their suggestions.
Kindergarten Teacher Presents Lincoln Alumni Scholarships
The teacher who started their education became the same teacher who presented them with a scholarship during their final days of high school.
On Senior Recognition Night, kindergarten teacher Mrs. Lipske presented the 2007/2008 Lincoln Parent Teacher Association scholarships to three students: Colleen Woyach, Jonnine Verburgt, and Peter Bossow. All three students attended Lincoln School.

Earthwatch Institute is the world's largest environmental volunteer nonprofit organization. The mission of Earthwatch is to engage people worldwide in scientific field research and education to promote the understanding and action necessary for a sustainable environment. Earthwatch provides this wonderful and unique opportunity for our educators to work alongside leading field researchers around the world. |
