CHS Art Department Participates in South Shore Tobacco Coalition’s Smoke Free Billboard and Poster Contest

Art Department, Cudahy High School

The Cudahy High School Creative Design course participated in the South Shore Tobacco Coalition’s Smoke Free Billboard and Poster Contest.  Cudahy, Oak Creek, South Milwaukee, and St. Francis school districts were all asked to participate.  The coordinator mentioned that the entries received from students at Cudahy High School were some of the best out of any of the school districts.  We’re very proud of our entry-level art students and the great effort that they put forth on this.

Freshman Roxanne Theide took first place!   This means her work will be made into a billboard for our local communities to see. Congratulations Roxanne and to all of her former and present art teachers (Mom and dad included).

General Mitchell - Drugs, Alcohol, Smoking, and your Body

General Mitchell

The 6th grade students at General Mitchell School have been studying the human body and the affects that drugs, alcohol, and smoking can have on their body systems. Throughout this unit, the students were able to experiment with the use of Fatal Vision goggles in which students tried to perform daily tasks with goggles that simulated 0.8 and 2.0 blood alcohol levels. We were fortunate to have two guest speakers as well: Detective Mendola and Officer Mike Musa with K-9 Bronco. These two guests were wonderful in helping to answer student questions, education the students on what to look out for/stay away from, and how the police departments are working hard to keep drugs off the street.
