Cudahy High School's 52 Key Club members have been busy this year serving their school and community.
During the month of December, students in this club helped set up Cudahy’s outdoor Nativity and then helped with the removal in January. During the holidays, students baked and donated over 32 dozen cookies to the Bayview Community Center for delivery to homebound seniors. On December 15, twelve Key Club members sorted and packaged food items and clothes for the Salvation Army Toy Shop and Food Drive. Students have also donated their time to swim meets and basketball tournaments at Cudahy High School.
During the weekend of March 5 through the 7, thirty Key Club members will attend the state convention in Green Bay. They will attend classes and seminars with over 1,000 other Key Club members from Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. This is an opportunity for members to exchange ideas and learn leadership skills that will allow them to better serve their community.
As the weather warms, the Key Club looks forward to participating in the March of Dimes “March for Babies” on April 24.
Key Club elections recently concluded. Congratulations to the following 2010-2011 school year officers: President - Erin Maurer, Vice President - Brittni Vermiglio, Secrteary - Brianna Mollberg, Treasurer - Roxanne Theide, and Bulletin Editor - Sabrina Schwartz.
On February 11, four Cudahy High School students participated in the Job Olympics hosted by Arrowhead High School. Including both individual and team efforts, our students won five awards and had a really fun experience.

Students at Lincoln Elementary School are jumping, shooting and saving children’s lives with the American Heart Association.
Lincoln is among 40,000 schools nationwide participating in Hoops for Heart, a campaign to raise awareness about heart disease and stroke in children. Students and staff are collecting money for the American Heart Association from now until February 26, 2010.
As part of the fundraiser, physical education teacher Ryan Menken will teach his students how their hearts work and how to keep them healthy through physical exercise. During the week of March 1st children will work on basketball skills and play different basketball games including 21, Lightning and H-O-R-S-E.
“The top student fundraiser will get to be ME for a day,” Mr. Menken said. “He or she will co-teach all of the gym classes on that day and have lunch with me.”
In addition, the top 12 to 15 fundraisers in fourth, fifth and sixth grades will compete in a Teacher vs. Student basketball game on April 1, 2010. At the end of the game, all students who collected money for Hoops for Heart will be recognized.
Lincoln is hoping to raise at least $2,500 for Hoops for Heart. You can make a donation and learn more about the campaign by visiting this web address: http://honor.americanheart.org/site/TR/HoopsforHeart/HFHMWA?team_id=105682&pg=team&fr_id=1294.
According to the American Heart Association, about 36,000 children are born each year with congenital heart defects.
This is the second year Lincoln has taken part in Hoops for Heart. The school also has participated in Jump Rope for Heart for the past 10 years.

Some business leaders of tomorrow got real-word practice at Marquette University earlier this month. Five juniors from Cudahy High School participated in Marquette’s annual Business Case Competition on Saturday, December 5.
The team, made up of Adam Dema, Jennifer Fakler, Raisa Kote, Maricruz Sanchez and Ryan Scheel, was given a business case and then had 45 minutes to make recommendations and put together a presentation before a panel of local business professionals. The team was judged on creativity, analysis and presentation.
"It was an amazing experience," said team member Jennifer Fakler. "The competition will really help me in the future."
Kevin Jones, team advisor and chairperson of the Business Education Department at Cudahy High School, commends the students for their effort and performance.
“They not only gave up a Saturday of their own time, but they also invested several hours outside of class preparing for the competitions,” Jones said.
The students received complimentary tickets to the December 5th Marquette University basketball game.
Forty high school teams from around Wisconsin and Illinois took part in the Business Case Competition.
