The Way I See It!

I am an Ultra-Conservative, Alpha-Male, True Authentic Leader, Type "C" Personality, who is very active in my community; whether it is donating time, clothes or money for Project Concern or going to Common Council meetings and voicing my opinions. As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.

Roundabouts on 27th Street

DOT, Franklin, Oak Creek, Roads, Roundabout

DOT promotes 27th Street in a roundabout way

Corridor could see multiple conversions featuring new design

The state Department of Transportation is considering replacing up to a dozen intersections on a 6-mile-stretch of South 27th Street with roundabouts.

Constructing the roundabouts is among the options being considered for a 27th Street construction project slated for 2013 that runs from College Avenue south to 8-Mile Road in Racine County.

Under the plan, the major intersections with roundabouts would include College, Rawson, Drexel and Forest Hill avenues, as well as Ryan Road.

Roundabouts are good for when you are replacing four way stops, but not the answer for a stoplighted intersection that is busy with semi-trucks.

I ask those planning them make sure large laddered fire trucks can make it around them.  Unlike semi-trucks that can swivel straight solid large laddered fire trucks cannot.  Word to the wise!
