There was a very good turnout for the Memorial Ceremony on Monday at the Cudahy War Memorial.
The Cudahy Fire Department started the events by raising an American Flag at the end of the extended ladder truck.
Next came songs from the Cudahy High School Marching Band. They concluded by playing the National Anthem. This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Opening rmarks were made by US Army Veteran, Purple Heart and French Legion of Honor medal recipient Bud Bessler. After the Invocation by Deacon Jerry Ponec, Mayor Day made his remarks followed by Supervisor Jursik.
The Laying of the Wreath was performed by Jeanette Nowakoski and Michell Christofferson.
Following the Wreath Laying, the Cudahy Veteran of the Year was announced. The winner was Gino, I was not able to hear his last name. Following the announcement, the gun firing, playing of Taps and the Flag Raising culminated the ceremony.
After the ceremony, Butch Miller invited the crowd to stop by Tat's to view a mural painted by some Cudahy High School students. The mural is a tribute to all branches of the Armed Services. It is a very impressive painting.
It was nice to see the citizens of Cudahy come out and support our Veterans
