What did the City Wide Marketing Survey Say about the Meyer Site?

CDA, Cudahy, Iceport, Lara Fritts, Development, Retail, Wal-Mart, Retail Marketing Analysis

It said big box retailing was perfect for the Meyer (Iceport) site.

Dear CDA and Lara Fritts, did you get the memo on it if not the report?

From the looks of this article below, it sounds like the ShopKo is gone away from the Pennsylvania site.

Wal-Mart is the one that walked away from the Penn site in 2007 not the city.  Costs to build a store on the light fill and the access road along with the state not wanting to change the Layton to Pennsylvania turn made them walk away.

I am hearing the “City” will be asking Wal-Mart to reconsider the Pennsylvania site.  Maybe something can be worked out.  But what a waste of money for the Marketing Survey if we aren’t going to listen to what it told us!

Can you explain why we are not going to listen to the survey Ms. Fritts?

Cudahy seeks to attract large retailer

By Tom Kertscher of the Journal Sentinel

Cudahy - The city is taking steps to land a "big box" retailer at Pennsylvania and Layton avenues.

The Community Development Authority this week said it favors a large retailer at the 30-acre site rather than at the site of the failed Iceport complex at Nicholson Road and Layton Ave., according to an announcement from the city.

Lara Fritts, the city's director of economic development, will be marketing the property with Cobalt Partners of Milwaukee at the International Council of Shopping Centers' Global Retail Real Estate Convention in Las Vegas on May 23-25, the announcement says.
