I am a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. I believe in sharing my talents and experiences by giving back to the community by giving my time to coaching, church and especially to the disability community. I truly believe that all men and women are created equally.
Back to my experiences on the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities
The public will see people with disabilities as valued individuals. Policy-makers and the general public will understand disability issues.
We continually work with elected officials to gain their support for consistent support for disability issues. We testify at hearings at the Capitol on issues that affect people with disabilities. Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (DD) also testify at some of these hearings. I hope that you can see that we have a consistent theme of having individuals with DD acting on their own behalf when addressing the issues. Who better to answer the questions and give first hand experiences then those who live with DD.
We are constantly updating our library of various publications to distribute around the State. By providing these publications, we are hoping that people will gain a better understanding of what individuals, families and caretakers face can do to improve their lives.
We look to make the general public more aware of what the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities has to offer. We are sponsoring a statewide book tour to show how an individual with DD has come through the system and is now working and living on her own. We work with Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) in helping to get our message out.
