Microsoft Windows thwarts police efforts to cut child porn


Experts warn that police will have a harder time prosecuting child pornography cases due to Windows 7's hi-tech encryption, making the process of gathering evidence impossible.


Cyber-law expert Dr. Adrian McCullagh said: "Microsoft has long been criticized for inadequate security – now it has implemented a robust security system that will bring problems along with its good."


He says that the UK, where refusing to give police decrypted data is a crime, should be used as a model for new laws.  "These laws would help police, law enforcement agencies, and anti-terrorist police."
