Why Not

I am a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. I believe in sharing my talents and experiences by giving back to the community by giving my time to coaching, church and especially to the disability community. I truly believe that all men and women are created equally.

Communication

Only 3 days into the week and I have left phone and email messages for 2 different companies on 2 separate occasions.  I have yet to receive a call or email back.  What has happened to professional communication and customer service?

Is it because we have stripped down companies to the very bare minimum in regards to employees? If the only thing that a company has to offer is service, both in performance and customer communication, then they should be very good at it.  If companies continue to strip themselves down, eventually they will begin to lose their advantage. If this practice continues, then they may be out of business.

The same holds true for all other forms of communication. Whether it be with family, friends or elected officials, communication is essential for success.

A good marriage always has excellent communication between a husband and a wife. Not all of the conversations are pleasant, and sometimes they occur. The same happens with family, friends, business associates and government officials.

I think that professional communication of all people needs to occur; and it needs to occur in a timely manner. Ignoring the communication does not make the issue go away, in most cases it only causes it to fester.

We should not talk down to people. We should not belittle them when responding. We should not try to talk over their head.  We should talk to them the same way we would like to be spoken to. We should answer the question, even those that we would prefer not having to deal with.  Answered with respect, nothing less can be tolerated.

We must also remember that communication is a 2 way street. It is probably more important that we listen to what people have to say.  I know that I joke with my wife that I always hear what she has to say, but I don't always listen to her.  But in order for communication to be successful, we must remember to listen to what the person has to say.

Please remember that anything that you put out into the cyber world becomes a permanent piece of history.
