I am an Ultra-Conservative, Alpha-Male, True Authentic Leader, Type "C" Personality, who is very active in my community; whether it is donating time, clothes or money for Project Concern or going to Common Council meetings and voicing my opinions. As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.
I went down to City Hall Monday, February 8th
First, he asked me why I picked Friday. When I talked with McCue on the phone Thursday evening
Of course, he didn’t remember Friday was an okay day. Do you think if I picked (which was really worked out with the other two candidates which days they were free within McCue’s open days) Thursday he would have asked why I picked Thursday?
He has an issue with the format in that he doesn’t think it is fair in its structure. He doesn’t like the panelist format as a fair option. There is no rule, per se how a debate has to be! He has never been to a debate like this. It is unconventional I said, but it is fair and allows all of
Nor does he like the crossfire part. He feels it will be the same questions regurgitated over and over. He has never seen a debate in this format before and told me to watch how the professional debates are done. Again, it is unconventional and he doesn’t like it because of that. I even gave him the option to pick the renter panelist. McCue told me he doesn’t know any renters. (Do you believe that???? If you do I have a bridge to sell ya. With almost 50% of
He doesn’t like the Business Owner selection since they have had City issues in the past. So the selection has to be someone who has not an issue with the city? Isn’t that biased against those with city issues? Someone is never totally unbiased! I don’t like absolutes! He kept on saying they need to be from outside
How does the Mayor, the Common Council and all of the Commissions and Committees push there personal feelings aside? They must have special powers that McCue thinks cannot be bestowed on to
Maybe McCue is so used to going outside
He doesn’t like the length of time. An hour and half is too long. He thinks you should get up and give your shpeal and would like one moderator asking the three candidates questions. Then go home.
Did you know they did that at the Cudahy Chamber of Commerce already? Did we get an invite? I know I didn’t even know about it and it was at lunch time I think! This is a disservice to both the voters and the candidates. If you want to get as many people as possible to attend a gathering….Hold the gathering when people are most likely to attend….
He wants the League of Women Voters to do it, but they are doing the March debate at the
He wants only unbiased, nonpartisan people. That is impossible, people lean one way or another, and McCue said we could find former Mayors from outside of
He kept saying this was my debate, and I kept telling him it is the community’s debate of which all of
He feels that we will not have a high attendance and I feel if 20 people come that is 20 more people informed than not.
The other two candidates are not crying foul and are fine with the format, the day, the length or the panelists. Never run for public office if you need to be loved by everyone! That's Management 101.
McCue then wanted to know why couldn’t the panelists give their questions to the moderator? So it sounds that it is the delivery of the question and not the panelists, but then he said he didn’t like the idea of the panelists. Sounds like semantics and backpedaling.
A Mayor needs to be seen and heard. If he doesn't show, we will just have an empty chair with his name on it...but I hope he does. It only helps
We need to listen to the questions, ideas and the concerns of the people who matter the most, the citizens of
Oh, and to the people that say I am making this up, just ask the Police Chief, he was there watching. There's no denying it was riveting to watch and we had the whole office watching.
If pictures speak a thousand words, video speaks a million, and then in person face to face is a trillion!
Challenges are what make life interesting: overcoming them is what makes life meaningful...
Randy,
McCue has nothing to gain from a debate, The only reason an incumbent would care to debate would be if he was in danger of losing the election, and wanted to get a message out to the people. McCue is not in danger of losing and certainly isn't interested in getting a message out to the people.
Having two opponents plays into his favor, you have the McCue supporters that will vote for him no matter what, the rest of the vote is now split. I think that if there were only one opponent, it would be tough enough, I do think Tony Day would have a shot, I don't think Fech (seems like a nice enough guy) has a shot at all, in fact I think in the end if Day gets close at all, it would be Fech that costs Day the election. Don't get me wrong, I think everyone has a right to run and I applaud him for that, I am just looking at simple math.
even if it went to a run off, I think the McCue drones will be out voting full force, Day had better get some grass roots efforts going, if not people are not going to go out and vote for him a second time.
McCue may very be an incompetent mayor, but I think it would be fair to say, he is an idiot, he has nothing to gain. There is no way in hell he is going to debate.....
If by chance I am wrong, and he is an idiot... well then, Mr McCue I know you read this blog.... you should absolutely go to the debate.

Trust from the voters!
To quote the immortal words "Insane in the membrane."
I cant say I am surprised that he wont show up. I am surprised that he thought he could talk around you and confuse you. Seriously, why would any voter in Cudahy want panelists from some where other than Cudahy? That would be like having people from China ask the presidential nominees questions at a town-hall. When its time to vote for Wisconsin Governor, are we going to have Canadians ask questions and tell us what to do? What does Zack have to say about this? Is he still a McCue supporter?
What a silly, silly person we have here.
He will not show up! He was never going to show up! He doesn't care about the voters or Cudahy. Fraidy cat!
Was the Police Chief there already or was he called over?
Was the Police Chief there already or was he called over?
Does the Kelly Center debate have all panelists from outside of Cudahy? Are they all non-biased? Do any of the panelists have campaign signs in their yards?
If there is a list of panelist for the Kelly Center debate please let me know where it is.
If McCue had nothing to gain from a debate, then why did he agree to the Kelly Center primary debate? Why does he agree with the Kelly Center general election debate?
The movement by some people in this area and around the US trying to keep people out of the political process and education is offensive.
if by "Trust from the voters!"
you mean that's what he has to gain... I think that its the whole conservative-liberal thing all over again..
people that like him.. won't change their minds, and people that don't like him, certainly will not change their minds after a few minutes of BS.
Just think about it, is there anything he could say or do short of walking on water, that you would say, "man, i was really wrong about that guy, I'll vote for him."
and even if he did walk on water, we would all be looking for the mirrors and the wires.
that's kind of what i mean about the debate, he has nothing to win, and only votes to lose.
as the old saying goes. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."
why would he open his mouth?
He already has said he is going to be in the Kelly Center debate, thats why. It speaks volumes that he doesnt want to hear from the common Cudahy resident.
A public servant should never be afraid to address the public. If he/she is, then something is wrong.
More immortal words "Qu'ils mangent de la brioche (let them eat cake)", is it ironic/foreshadow that Fat Tuesday is Feb 16th this year? Maybe this can be McCue's new campaign phrase!
Jtozz, just so we're clear, I am not and have never been a "McCue supporter." As I've said (and written) before, it's hard for me to name a single accomplishment on which Ryan McCue can justify another term in office, so I fail to see why I should support him.
MrZippy
I apologize that I put those two sentences back to back. They did sound negative. I was really just wondering your take on it. I did think you were a McC's supporter previous to you clearing that up, but I take that back now.
Please let us know your take on the debate since you are an integral part of it. Is it all just "BS" as notmeee says and there is no reason an incumbant should debate?
Tozz, I think there's absolutely a reason for the incumbent to participate, because the participation of all the candidates gives the voters a chance to make an informed decision on which 2 of the 3 candidates should make it to the general election. As a new resident of Cudahy, I'd like to hear directly from the candidates as to what their plans are to make Cudahy a better place to live and raise a family, and I'm disappointed Mayor McCue won't give voters a chance to hear what he feels are his accomplishments during his time as mayor.
Of course, he won't debate, he has nothing to debate with. That would require a record, and he certainly does not want to expose his. Arrogant and egotistical are his biggest points; we hardly need three more years of that.
Why participate in a real debate when it's much easier to hide. boo, stand by your record. You know, strong in the face of adversity. Now he just looks like a coward
It's obvious he's scared of the format debate. Citizens get to ask questions and the candidates get to ask each other questions. He has no answers for the poor job he has done in office and does not want to explain himself. This is one of the first Cudahy Mayors that REFUSES to answer to the people. He thinks he's above having to explain himself the "lowly" taxpayers.
When it comes to the voters asking the questions, McCue is treating them like peasants. You peasants and your annoying requests

Randy:
You get a gold star for putting this together. Again, McCue was great to shoot off his mouth when running the first time. Now, the sound of silence.
The people of Cudahy made a huge mistake in voting him in in 2007, and now, we see if they are still stupid, or have come to their senses!
