I am an Ultra-Conservative, Alpha-Male, True Authentic Leader, Type "C" Personality, who is very active in my community; whether it is donating time, clothes or money for Project Concern or going to Common Council meetings and voicing my opinions. As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.
These are tips that Cudahy Police Sergeant Chris Blunt gave out at the September Neighborhood Watch group after he did a walk & drive through including the alleys.
Sgt. Blunt stressed that you need to help him help you by locking your car doors.
Never leave your vehicle running and unattended for any amount of time. It only takes a few seconds to steal your vehicle.
Rolling up the windows in your car is a smart thing and Sgt. Blunt said he could not believe how many people this summer didn’t do it.
Keeping your valuables out of eyesight in the car and in the yard.
Keep your garage doors locked and closed at night.
Check all the locks and window latches regularly to make sure they work properly.
Put on your porch lights.
Add motion detector lights in the backyard.
When you go away make sure family, neighbors, and friends know and get them to check on your property at different times of the day to make sure everything is okay.
Mark your property - having it marked helps police verify if it has been stolen.
Report suspicious activity in your neighborhood when you see it.
Please help him keep us and our property safe by adopting what Sgt. Blunt suggests through his experience and wisdom. Burglary is a crime of opportunity - don't give burglars a chance.
