Introducing Cudahy Mayoral Candidate Kevin Fech

2010 Election, Cudahy, Info, Mayor, Kevin Fech

This is information provide to me by Mr. Fech.  I will have a post later in the week with my sit down and chat with Mayoral Candidate Kevin Fech.  What I can tell you is he is very personable and approachable.

A little bit about me

I have been a Cudahy resident for about 20 years now.  I grew up in northwest Indiana.  Graduate of Indiana University, Gary campus in 1987 with a BS in Business Administration.  Married 13 years.  I have 3 kids at Lincoln.  2 kids are in 5th grade and one in 2nd.  My oldest son has a dual diagnosis of Down syndrome and Autism.  We face our challenges, but we have been fortunate enough to have had no real medical issues.  Just regular kid stuff.

I am employed in the transportation field, have been for almost 25 years.  I did spend about 3 years traveling the country as a field operations manager.  I helped stations with training of employees as well as help managers identify and solve their operational problems.  I enjoyed this job very much, but I wanted to watch my kids grow up.  The employer always let me be home for the concerts, plays etc, but I never realized how much I missed of the every day stuff.  I have spent considerable time around many different airports.

I am active with the Cudahy/St Francis Little Baseball Association.  I asked them if they would be willing to start a Challenger Division for kids with special needs.  I continue to run it every Saturday morning during the season.  It started about 3 years ago with about 8 kids.  This year we had over 20.  I also help coach my daughter’s softball team and my youngest son’s baseball team.

I am a past Board President with the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin as well as Treasurer.

I currently serve on the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities.

Qualifications

v     As a non-profit, I know how to work with other agencies to increase services, while not spending the entire budget to reinvent the wheel.

v     Worked as a field operations manager in transportation industry.  Helped stations identify and solve operational issues.

v     Traveled the country for 3 years and spent a lot of time around various airports across the country.  I know as a business traveler what I looked for during free time.

v     Worked developing budgets and staying within the budgetary framework even when economic changes occurred.

v     I do not rely on having an idea and wanting someone else to do it.  I am willing to roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty.  I.e. Challenger Little League.

v     Worked with school administration though children’s education.  I have a professional and good working relationship with administration and would look to work with them to share service issues in an effort to keep taxes down
