The Way I See It!

I am an Ultra-Conservative, Alpha-Male, True Authentic Leader, Type "C" Personality, who is very active in my community; whether it is donating time, clothes or money for Project Concern or going to Common Council meetings and voicing my opinions. As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.

Generations

Generations

Generations Defined:

Since Cudahy’s motto is “Generations of Pride” I thought it would be nice for everyone to see how the generations standout to each other.

While working and knowing each type, I have noticed mostly what is said is true.

Traditionalist or Silent Generation, born in the span of years between 1925 and 1942: Born pre-1946.  Loyal, patriotic, conservative.  The most loyal and patriotic generation ever, to institutions, companies, to brands across the board.

Baby boomers: 1946-64.  Eighty million strong.  This generation that while it upheld the institutions, set out to change the institutions.  They’re very optimistic, idealistic and competitive.

Generation Xers: Genx – Born 1965-81.  A group of 46 million.  They’re extremely independent, entrepreneurial, but if there was one major trait for them, it’s that they’re skeptical.  Challenge the status quo.  Work the longest hours.  Hard workers, dedicated and productive.  Supports a cause.

Millennials / Generation Y/ Gen Y: They are also known as: The Net Generation, Echo Boomers and The “New ME” generation.  Born 1982-2000.  Seventy six million of them.  This is a generation that has grown up with information; the Internet.  Tends to be very narcissistic, pragmatic, realistic and feel they are entitled.  And those are their best qualities.  You must do a lot of handholding and encouragement.  If the encouragement ends, they get upset and have adult TT’s (Temper Tantrums).  Many of the parents of Gen Y are called hovers or a helicopter parents, which is a term for a person who pays extremely close attention to his or her child or children, particularly at educational institutions.  They rush to prevent any harm or failure from befalling them or letting them learn from their own mistakes, sometimes even contrary to the children's wishes.  They are so named because, like a helicopter, they hover closely overhead, rarely out of reach whether their children need them or not.  They have even gone on many of their children’s job interviews.

The New Silent Generation / Generation Z  / Gen Z-  Born 2001-2015.  Still counting. Will be the most connected ever, in terms of technology and on a worldwide scale.  Not only will they be facing all the issues that we as parents and parents-to-be are facing, like the effects of the 9-11 and the Iraq war, but any political and social decisions made today will have serious outcomes to their future.  They are also supposed to be the ones to start the next Cultural Revolution, whether it will be social, economic, biological or even digital.  They should be the brightest and most well rounded and have a renewed sense of patriotism.
