The Way I See It!

So below is my email back and forth to the now ex-leasing agent, Dana Meadowcroft. 

 

Yes ex-leasing agent, as Packard Plaza has gone with a different leasing company and has even as I’m told, begun doing some work on the building without being asked to do it.

 

Ms. Meadowcroft didn’t reply back to my second email as the change I’m told occurred just then.  I would have loved to hear or in this case read her response.

 

Maybe the new leasing agent will get some better results!

Randy,

 

I emailed Justin Moralez back in November of 2013 suggesting that the city "lease" one space in the center paying only utilities and providing insurance coverage with The City of Cudahy managing various community events and uses such as these.  I think the same would be true for the parking lot as we would need a specific party/entity to manage and insure the events.

 

Please let me know if you would like to discuss this concept further.  Thanks.

Dana,

I was asking in the hopes that the company you represent on behalf of Packard Plaza Mall would show some desire to be a good positive active corporation neighbor and display some community goodwill in allowing the fair residents of Cudahy to use a small portion of the vast wasted empty space on the mall parking lot for a Farmer's Market type events and group rummages.

Well, my hopes were dashed with your email response, just as my hopes were crushed when you came before the Common Council with no true plan besides asking for taxpayer assistance.  The taxpayer assistance would be a hard sell and swallow given Packard Plaza’s TIF just ended in 2007 and the community hasn’t seen a reasonable effort of improvement since then from your parent company and its companies that have owned the mall.

I hope and pray the nine months that have passed since you were here last year that a solid plan has been formulated to deal with the increased vacancy at the mall given the latest tenant to leave now is Get It Now who is moving to Oak Creek.  It would be sad if there is no real plan in place or on the drawing board to make any effort to improve the situation at Packard Plaza Mall and allow the mall to become to vibrant profitable full mall instead of continuing losing tenants and become a “Ghost Mall” and an eyesore.

I know there currently is very little the City and its Elected Officials can do to motivate you and your company to make improvements and fill the open vacancies.  However I can tell you the citizens of Cudahy are noticing the lack of effort and will to do so.  As a community we are saddened by it.

I’m a capitalist and want nothing more than to see Packard Plaza Mall filled and prosper and understand it takes money to make money.  I also know that community goodwill goes a long way to improve things and strengthen the symbiotic bond that company and community have to get things done.

Remember you catch more flies with honey than vinegar and the community will come to the aid of those in need if it feels it deserves it.

It takes all kinds of steps to improve things including small or baby steps!

It still isn’t too late to show Cudahy and its residents you and your company care and want to be a good company neighbor and become a positive community partner.  It is within your power to do so and this can be accomplished with just a small token of appreciation by allowing the residents to use a small portion of the mall parking lot for a Farmer's Market type events and group rummages.

It cost you nothing and you have nothing to lose with so much to gain and if you want the City of Cudahy and Elected Officials to try and sell taxpayer assistance or some other help to the residents, a little goodwill goes a long way!
