Family lured Jerrianne and her husband to South Milwaukee in 2002 from Southern California where she worked as, first, a journalist, then, as a court information officer. She now stays busy with media-relations consulting, playing with her three grandchildren (part of the lure), writing, discovering her new environs, and hoping her garden will produce before the first fall frost.
The Gift Shoppe in Cudahy, my favorite gift shop by far, is having a sidewalk sale on July 12 (Friday) and July 13 (Saturday).
The Shoppe is just north of South Milwaukee on Packard Avenue.
South Milwaukee's fantastic Little League All Stars left today for the Midwest Regional Tounament in Michigan. Their first game is against Illinois tomorrow. Their next game is on Sunday. South Milwaukee's Little League Intermediate Division All Stars, who as Wisconsin state champions, faced a rout in their first game in Michigan on Saturday agaisnt Illinois.
The 12- and 13-year-olds bounced back on Sunday, however, and prevailed over Indiana in a heart-stopper. After South Milwaukee led most of the game, Indiana tied it up in the 6th inning. In the bottom of the 7th -- and last inning -- Gabe Vega, son of coach Augie Vega, smacked a homer, driving the Badger boys to a 9-8 win.
