New Kid's View

Family lured Jerrianne and her husband to South Milwaukee in 2002 from Southern California where she worked as, first, a journalist, then, as a court information officer. She now stays busy with media-relations consulting, playing with her three grandchildren (part of the lure), writing, discovering her new environs, and hoping her garden will produce before the first fall frost.

South Milwaukee Downtown Public Market, ChopArt, Chapen Hayslett

Oh, ye poor South Milwaukee neighbors who didn't get to South Milwaukee Downtown Public Market's opening day yesterday. Weather was near perfect. South Milwaukeeans and folks from neighboring cities and communities turned out -- many with their pets. (See photos below.) Live music. Fifty vendors selling everything from baked goodies to veggie garden starter plants, flowers for border gardens, honey, handmade jewerly and handicrafts and -- ChopArt.

One is in Grant Park (South Milwaukee), at Picnic Pavilion #5.

Nau Neighbors

Brian Nau, Erin BeingNau Gallery, boutique, art, metal sculpture, aroma therapy, tutus

New kids in the neighborhood, Erin and Brian Nau, haven't just moved in to their new home in South Milwaukee, they've opened an art gallery and boutique here. It's called BeingNau Gallery and it's located at 907B Milwaukee Avenue, just a couple of doors west of Azteca restaurant. It looks like this from the outside.
