New Kid's View

Family lured Jerrianne and her husband to South Milwaukee in 2002 from Southern California where she worked as, first, a journalist, then, as a court information officer. She now stays busy with media-relations consulting, playing with her three grandchildren (part of the lure), writing, discovering her new environs, and hoping her garden will produce before the first fall frost.

Favorite Gift Shoppe Sidewalk Sale

The Gift Shoppe, Cudahy, Cudahy Family Library

 The Gift Shoppe in Cudahy, my favorite gift shop by far, is having a sidewalk sale on July 12 (Friday) and July 13 (Saturday).

The Shoppe is just north of South Milwaukee on Packard Avenue.

SM LL All Star State Champs Head for Regional Tournament

Little League, All Stars, Midwest Regional Tournament

 South Milwaukee's fantastic Little League All Stars left today for the Midwest Regional Tounament in Michigan. Their first game is against Illinois tomorrow. Their next game is on Sunday. Team TBD based on tomorrow's results. Here are photos taken at the South Milwaukee Little League complex as they prepared to leave for Michigan.

SM All Stars: One Down, One Up at LL Midwest Tourney

Little League, All Stars, state champions, Gabe Vega, Augie Vega

 South Milwaukee's Little League Intermediate Division All Stars, who as Wisconsin state champions, faced a rout in their first game in Michigan on Saturday agaisnt Illinois.

The 12- and 13-year-olds bounced back on Sunday, however, and prevailed over Indiana in a heart-stopper. After South Milwaukee led most of the game, Indiana tied it up in the 6th inning. In the bottom of the 7th -- and last inning -- Gabe Vega, son of coach Augie Vega, smacked a homer, driving the Badger boys to a 9-8 win.

Boys of Summer Head Home

Little League, Kalamazoo, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, All Stars, Wisconsin state champions

It was a great experience for a dozen or so South Milwaukee 12- and 13-year olds.

After three days and three games, they head home with a 1-2 win-loss record in the Little League Intermediate Division Midwest Regional Tournament in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
