As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.
While driving home last week on the 794 Parkway, I came across a major traffic jam in the left lane just after the Port of Milwaukee traveling south bound. I thought to myself, must be an accident or disabled car, since the right lane was moving and people from the left were moving to the right.
As I moved up in the left lane, I could see a yellow Yaris in the front with people quickly moving right and then in Nascar fashion, nose chopping as they quickly swerve back over to the left in front of the yellow Yaris.
It wasn’t an accident or disabled car, it was just a car going below the new 50 MPH posted speed limit, so when it was my turn to move to the right I did. I pulled beside the car and rolled down my window. She rolled her window down as well.
I said to her, “the speed limit is now 50 MPH.”
She said, “I know but I like the old speed better and State law says I can drive 10 MPH below the posted speed!”
I said to her, “Then move over to the right where the State says slower cars to be, besides just because you can do something doesn’t mean it is right!”
She said, “It is my right to stay right here and I am!”
I shook my head and just went about my day.
State law also says no passing on right, the left lane is truly for passing and again just because you can, doesn’t mean it is right. I watched in my rearview mirror car after car nose chopped her with many people showing her a finger.
In the end, she was hugging the left lane because she was getting off on Oklahoma. I don’t know her, but for her safety and others, she should either move to the right or take the city streets. She is going to cause an accident or a road rage situation.
