Family lured Jerrianne and her husband to South Milwaukee in 2002 from Southern California where she worked as, first, a journalist, then, as a court information officer. She now stays busy with media-relations consulting, playing with her three grandchildren (part of the lure), writing, discovering her new environs, and hoping her garden will produce before the first fall frost.
South Milwaukee's very own art gallery, Studio 915, is offering a females-only art session deal through Groupon. Here's the info:
"We're running a promotion in Groupon for the next two days on a GNO painting workshop. It's a great deal... ALL art supplies included...just bring your favorite wine, appetizers if you like and we'll supply inspiring music, supplies and a great lesson. Please pass this on to anyone!!! Much thanks... Dawn Mader"

The band is providing dining room music for:
Mulligan's Irish Pub
8933 S 27th St, Franklin (just south of Drexel on the west side of 27th Street)
2pm to 5 pm
This is a traditional acoustic performance, so there is no sound system to get in the way. Should be a lot of fun.
The food is good, too.
The band asks that you please share this schedule with friends and neighbors who like Irish music. You can also send the band and email at firstname.lastname@example.org and asked to be added to its email distribution list.
The band hopes to see you at one (or more?) of these gigs, wish you a Happy St. Pat's Day and thank you for supporting them!

Anyone who owns or has owned a house, no matter how modest, can attest that it can be a money pit.
It became obvious recently that ours needed two fixes.
Huzzah and kudos to Janet Halfmann. This prolific South Milwaukee children's writer, who has more than 30 published books to her credit and almost too many awards to count, has won the Council for Wisconsin Writers' Tofte/Wright Children's Literature Award for her book, Star of the Sea: A Day in the Life of a Starfish.
Here's what the cover of Star of the Sea looks like:
This new museum, America's Black Holocaust Museum, is actually a new museum in every town. That's because it's a virtual museum and can be toured at www.abhmuseum.org.
This is a great interactive website that is the reconstituted bricks-and-mortar museum, which closed four years ago due to insufficient funding, and is constantly adding to its exhibits and activities.
