The Way I See It!
I am an Ultra-Conservative, Alpha-Male, True Authentic Leader, Type "C" Personality, who is very active in my community; whether it is donating time, clothes or money for Project Concern or going to Common Council meetings and voicing my opinions. As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.
Embarrassing Tire-gate II
While watching the Brickyard 400, I was embarrassed for the fans at Indy for the race. If you don’t follow NASCAR you may not know what I am referring to. The rear right center of the tires wore to the cords causing a few blowouts.
An unbelievable nine competition cautions where thrown by the NASCAR Officials, to allow the teams to come in the pits and change the tires. This has been done in the past at many other tracks and not just this year.
Logical Fallacies Part II
Hasty generalization
A hasty generalization draws conclusions from inadequate evidence. Suppose someone says, “My hometown is the best place in the state to live.” And the person gives only two examples to support the opinion. That’s not enough. And others might not feel the same way, perhaps for many reasons. Therefore, the person who makes such a statement is indulging in a hasty generalization. Stereotyping is another kind of hasty generalization. It happens, for example, when someone says, “Everyone from country X is dishonest.” Such a sweeping claim about all members of a particular ethnic, religious, racial, or political group is stereotyping. Yet another kind of stereotyping is sexism, which occurs when someone discriminates against another person based on gender. For example, when an observer of a minor traffic accident involving women makes negative comments about all “women drivers,” the person is guilty of a combination of stereotyping and sexism—both components of hasty generalization.

Cudahy Wal-Mart Mentioned in the JS
I have no idea what is going on with the store. I know the CDA has had closed door meetings about the business conditions, but have no idea if it is moving forward. Lisa Nelson of Wal-Mart Public Affairs is still out of the state on National Guard duty, so I have not heard from her.
Here is an article from the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel talking about Wal-Mart and hurricane Katrina from Saturday August 2, 2008 that mentions the Cudahy Wal-Mart.
NASCAR in the Rain
Why doesn’t NASCAR race or qualify in the rain on road tracks? I will tell you why!
They are entertainers, not real racecar drivers. Driving in the rain would scare most of them to death.
Cudahy It Is Time To Kick the Habit
On Oct. 29, 2007, Molly Collins of Wisconsin Wins, reported that “Within the City of Cudahy 23.81% of the surveyed retailers with tobacco retail license allowed minors to have access to tobacco products after one of two surveys were performed earlier this month.”
She further went on to say, “The selling of a tobacco product to a minor is illegal and violates municipal law. Owners and employees of establishments who possess tobacco retail license are strongly advised to always ask for identification in order to verify that a customer is of legal age when requesting to purchase tobacco products.

Tire-Gate II Update
From ESPN - NASCAR, Goodyear plan additional tire tests at Brickyard
NASCAR and Goodyear officials on Saturday announced plans to conduct a fall test session at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to help solve the tire problems that marred the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard last weekend.
TIF Districts Popping Up
While some people give TIF Districts a bad rap, they do have their place and need. It drives businesses to build in a place that they might not look at.
Many people talk that Portland, Oregon is built up because of light and commuter rail. That is not the truth whole truth. Over 2 Billion dollars in TIF money was doled out before the rail was done and popular.
Part of Cudahy’s image problem is self-inflected.

A Road vs. Jobs
When I heard about the Cudahy Tannery leaving, I blogged about losing a business. I then received this email from a reader which made me pause and think.
“Randy, why does the Mayor want a road instead of jobs. If you have been following the Cudahy Tannery leaving we have the opportunity to replace those jobs and that company with another tannery company. I have read that it is very hard to get permits and regulations to build a new building for tannery. Why doesn’t Mayor McCue want jobs in Cudahy. How is this road going to bring jobs to Cudahy? We can do better then a road, that is called jobs that actually make something. I don’t care if Walmart happens, but here is a place where something could be processed and made. What better type of jobs could we have?”
10 Tips to Prepare Your Child for Preschool
This was the information from my wife’s teaching co-op class in the form of a handout.
You are your child’s first teacher. As a father, mother, or other family member you begin teaching your newborn about language as you welcome him into the world with smiles and caring words. By responding to your child's coos, babbles, early words, and simple sentences, you encourage him to learn. By reading to your child, you encourage him to read and write. Thus by the time your child is old enough for preschool, he knows a lot about language, because of all the time your family has spent listening, talking, reading, and writing with him.

One of my Libertarian friends asked me to take the test. I did and my Libertarian Purity Score was 60. It would be nice if people took the test and reported back with the score.
