I am a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. I believe in sharing my talents and experiences by giving back to the community by giving my time to coaching, church and especially to the disability community. I truly believe that all men and women are created equally.
I recently read an article where a local candidate in Alaska did not feel it was worth educating some children with special needs (http://www.themudflats.net/?p=32511) because it cost too much. These were comments from Wasilla, AK, the same town that former Gov Sarah Palin was from. The same Vice-Presidental candidate who said while campaigning that if elected, she would have a friend in the White House. Well, I guess that since was not elected, she does not feel the need to be that vocal advocate that sounded good on the campaign trail.
On Tuesday, Cudahy Schools begin the new school year. While, I as a parent, am excited for this day as I work from home and I get more done when the kids are not around, I know my kids want a couple more days off. I think this is a good time to remind both drivers and walkers about safety.
Drivers, SLOW DOWN in the school zones. There are many families that cross where ever they want, including the middle of the road. You never know when someone is going to dart out in front of you. I know that when I learned how to drive, pedestrians have the right of way when crossing the street at a 4 way stop. Also, the white trim on stop signs does not mean that they are optional, you must stop.
