The Way I See It!

I am an Ultra-Conservative, Alpha-Male, True Authentic Leader, Type "C" Personality, who is very active in my community; whether it is donating time, clothes or money for Project Concern or going to Common Council meetings and voicing my opinions. As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.

Under Mayor Day, Cudahy is Not Focused on Development

Brian Biernat, Cudahy, Development, Mayor, Tony Day

Cudahy’s Economic Development Director Brian Biernat is looking for an assistant at $40k plus benefits to make up for the work he cannot do given his focus is on inspection.

Let’s say for the sake of an argument that the City of Cudahy, Mayor Day, and Cudahy’s Economic Development Director could do nothing to stop the businesses in Cudahy from leaving or closing down, what have they done to help fill those vacancies?

What have they done to bring new development here period?

Let’s concentrate on the Packard Plaza Mall first.

As many of you recall Cudahy has an Official Business Website http://www.cudahy4business.com/ that until Friday January 11, 2013 hasn’t really be updated.

When you are caught with your pants down and have done nothing you scrub the website which is what they did!

We’re a product of our own successes or failures, when you do nothing, you are nothing!

I have emailed over the last couple of years why the site is not being updated and never got a reply back.

Now one of the areas of it listed available private office space on it.  If I were to tell you that when you clicked on any of the properties in the Packard Plaza Mall it listed a contact person to whom you could email or call if you were interested in one of the sites.

I am going to take us back a few days to emails I sent Mayor Day and our Economic Development Director to which I never did get a response from.  It doesn’t surprise me nor should it you.  Just as in an election year and after being exposed and getting heat the Official Business Website got some attention.  Oh, BTW – it was hardly touched since Brian took over.

All of this should show you that under Mayor Day’s lack of leadership, development has not been important or even on his radar screen.

Now the emails –

Mayor Day and Mr. Biernat,

I would like to know what you the two of you doing to help find tenants for the Packard Plaza given Aldi's, Merchandise Outlet and now Dunham’s is leaving the anchors of the mall?

One would hope you are working with the landlord and the leasing people so the Citizens of Cudahy are not stuck with an empty mall.

I have included Dana Meadowcroft the listed Leasing Representative for the mall in hopes she might have answers as well including if the city has offered any help in finding or keeping tenants in the Packard Plaza Mall and what she is doing about the empty mall.

Mrs. Bossy,

I have sent the following information (below) to Cudahy Mayor Day, Cudahy Economic Development Director Brian Biernat and Dana Meadowcroft who is the listed Leasing Representative for mall.

I would like to know if anyone from the City of Cudahy has reached out to you and offered any type of support or assistance in helping to fill the ever-increasing vacancies in the Cudahy Packard Plaza Mall.

I would also like to you what you and your company are going to actively fill these vacancies.

If you wish to contact the Leasing Representative:

Dana Meadowcroft

(847) 562-4148

dana.meadowcroft@brixmor.com

She makes the statement that the mall is “Well-anchored by Aldi's, Dunham's & JoAnn Fabrics.

Conveniently located on heavily traveled south Packard Avenue.”  Now that is no longer true.

Mayor Day and Mr. Biernat,

It would appear that our information on the Cudahy Economic Development website for the Packard Plaza Mall is very outdated.

http://www.cudahy4business.com/cudahyecondev/locations+available/privately+owned/default.asp

http://www.cudahy4business.com/resources/5656spackardnew5.pdf

We are showing that Centro Properties Group and Caitlin Bossy (caitlin.bossy@centroprop.com) are the contacts and that is not correct.  This website reflects a place where potential customers

would look for information and find a dead-end.  I have noticed that this current administration has basically abandoned this website and doesn’t take development seriously.

Someone needs to at least update it with the correct information and we can start to help ourselves.  The two of you should be ashamed of the lack of effort you are putting forth.
