I am a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. I believe in sharing my talents and experiences by giving back to the community by giving my time to coaching, church and especially to the disability community. I truly believe that all men and women are created equally.
Lifting the Caps
It is finally time to do the right thing and lift the caps on Family Care and the related Programs. Governor Walker has said that he wants the caps lifted. DHS has released its Long-Term Care Efficiencies and Sustainability Plan. There is Bi-Partisan support to lift the caps. What is holding up the public hearings to get these caps lifted?
Update on Family Care Caps
Now that the State Senate Health Committee has unanimously voted on SB380, the Senate Bill to lift the enrollment caps on Family Care and their related programs, the entire Senate now has the opportunity to do the right thing and vote to lift the enrollment caps.
Disability Advocacy Day 2012
Survival Coalition is hosting Disability Advocacy Day (http://www.survivalcoalitionwi.org/index.php/events/) on Tuesday, March 6, at the Capitol in Madison. Disability Advocacy Day connects you with your legislators so you can share your story and tell them what issues are important to you. Please participate in this event and make your voice heard about disability issues!
Survival will set up your visit with your legislators. Before your visit, you will have an opportunity to attend a briefing about current disability issues in Wisconsin. You can choose a briefing time of 9 a.m., 11 a.m., or 1 p.m. Participants are asked to arrive at the Capitol 30 minutes prior to the start of their briefing.
Update on Current Legislation Affecting People with Disabilities-Update
AB 110 & SB 486 (Special Needs Voucher Bill). I have previously testified on this bill, (http://www.cudahynow.com/blogs/communityblogs/121247083.html) While the sponsors of the bill have changed from the Florida model to an Ohio model, I still have some concerns.
