I am an Ultra-Conservative, Alpha-Male, True Authentic Leader, Type "C" Personality, who is very active in my community; whether it is donating time, clothes or money for Project Concern or going to Common Council meetings and voicing my opinions. As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.
Common Council Follows the CDA and Votes No on Extension
So you would think that Wal-Mart and the developer Continental are done with the Iceport. Well not so fast. It seems the city may be okay with dealing with Continental directly. You may also now understand that Joe Henika was right about given Sportsites money, but he kept making it sound like Wal-Mart was getting the tax break.
That was not the case, yet his post in the public forum is being used as so. What the whole thing was about was not giving a dime to the Sportsites people. The problem was that the common person and those who wanted to believe it was true that Wal-Mart was getting a tax break because Joe wrote his post in such a manor.

Reports are coming out that Brett Favre is getting the itch to come back and play for the Packers.
Candanian Court overrules father's grounding
Quebec: A judge has ruled that a 12-year-old girl who was grounded and not permitted to go on a school trip because she broke her father's rules for using the internet may indeed go on the trip.
The father had grounded the unidentified 12-year-old because she had circumvented security measures on the computer to access forbidden sites and had uploaded images of herself described as "inappropriate for a child her age.”
The Cheesecake Factory Server Lawsuit
I received this email this morning.
“Randy could you please post this article on the Cheesecake Factory Server Lawsuit. While it is a shame that Wal-Mart has violated employee’s rights and wages, this practice is prevalent throughout retail and the restaurant service industry. A person for whom I will not name, that you have stated you respect will of course not like this fact. I am sure he is in denial that is favorite place could possibly have violations much like Wal-Mart his least favorite place.”
Sales Tax Referendum Explained
While I already gave my thoughts why I do not support the Sales Tax increase, I thought it was important to post both sides of the coin. I emailed 8th District Milwaukee County Supervisor Patricia Jursik for her reason for voting yes and she emailed me back, very quickly I may add, a link with her reasoning. Sales Tax
CHICAGO SALES TAX - Highest in U.S. 10.25 Percent and it's 11.25
percent at restaurants inside a special taxing district in the heart of the city. The increase comes thanks to a vote by the Cook County Board that bumped the county's portion of the tax up by 1 percentage point starting July 1. The new rate puts Chicago ahead of other cities. The sales tax in Memphis, Tennessee, is 9.25 percent. New Orleans charges 9 percent, while shoppers in New York City pay 8.375 percent. In Normal, shoppers pay 7.50 percent sales tax on general merchandise, and as of today Bloomington's sales tax increased to 7.75 percent.
Some people have Chicago envy and think Chicago will over take Milwaukee with Milwaukee becoming a suburb of Chicago. Some think Chicago is far better than Milwaukee. Chicago may have good things to learn from, but the taxes are not one of them.

Talks Still Continue
My guess the continued talks will meet the requirements to have the lawsuit dismissed. I do think the most of the city would like the development to move forward. I also feel that many of the city leaders also share the sediment as long as the city gets what is asked for in the business conditions.

This goes out to all of the readers reading my blog. Thank you for your support, for just being seven months old today, we are nearing the 600,000-view mark. It should happen some time this weekend. It is a wonderful thing for me to share my thoughts and opinions with all of you. While you may not agree with all or any of my viewpoints, I hope what I write may cause you to pause and maybe see something you didn’t see. I am not getting paid to do this. I do this because I have things to say and care about the world we live in.
While all of us in the blogosphere have deep passion for what we write about, it is the readers who make it possible. It is the fun of debating and at times rant and raving that helps push the envelope.

Going Out of Business
In the Milwaukee Journal, it was reported that the True Value hardware at 3014 S. 13th St. was closing. The story is below. While it is true that the storeowner lists Wal-Mart as one of the reasons for the closing, it is not the only one and not everything. So after reading a blog on what the Wal-Mart supporters think about this and the come back, one of my friends stopped to visit with the owner.
He learned that the ever decreasing profit margins has made it difficult coupled with increasing crime and retail theft at the store, it just was not cost feasible. So when an offer came in to sell the business/building he jumped on it. It is what happen once he decided to sell off his store merchandise that is wild.
Logical Fallacies Part I
Begging the question
Begging the question tries to offer proof by simply using another version of the argument itself. This is also called circular reasoning. For example, “Wrestling is a dangerous sport because it is unsafe” begs the question. Unsafe is a synonym for dangerous, so the statement goes around in a circle, getting nowhere. Evidence of the claimed danger is missing. Here’s another example with a different twist. “Wrestling is a dangerous sport because wrestlers get injured.” Here, the support fro the second part of the statement is the argument in the first part of the statement. Obviously, since wrestling is a popular sport, it can be safe when undertaken with proper training and practice. And here’s yet another example: “Wrestlers love danger.” This time, the problem is the unstated assumption that wrestling is supposed danger, not the sport, is what attracts wrestlers. Yet the audience can’t be assumed to share the opinion that wrestling is dangerous.

Regarding C.R.G., Cudahy and Muskego, it was suggested that “You don't let wolves inside the hen house.”, because on one instance C.R.G. is helping with a recall effort of local officials who are allowing a Wal-Mart in their community and another recall effort against Cudahy’s Mayor for trying to block a Wal-Mart.
What is so hard to accept about that? Why are so many of you confused? Do you know what C.R.G. is?

How We & History Can Be Wrong
One of my Professors in college told me “The victor writes the history!” One of his most famous discussions was “The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere” and how we in fact don’t know if Paul Revere was the one to warn the colonists at the time in question. He could live with the fact we don’t know exactly which leg of the ride the quote came from (multiple riders on the route), but the fact that the quote of "The British are coming!" is wrong.
At the time, colonial residents considered themselves British as they were all legally British subjects, and the correct saying would be “The Red Coats are coming!”, since the colonists, which would become Americans, wore “Blue”.
Cardinal Stritch will buy Cousins Center
The Business Journal is reporting that the Cousins Center has a buyer with Cardinal Stritch University. I think this is a very good thing for St. Francis and the surrounding area. If the area in St. Francis, Cudahy and Bay View do want to be the other East side, it starts with a college to bring in students and money to the area.
Cardinal Stritch also said that the transaction is contingent upon rezoning of the property by the city of Saint Francis. A final agreement would be subject to approval by Stritch’s board of trustees and the administrative team for the Sisters of Saint Francis of Assisi, the University’s sponsors.

Here We Go Again
Panel OKs plans for 25-acre retail center The former landfill at Layton and Pennsylvania avenues likely will be converted into a $25-million, 25-acre retail development. The Cudahy Plan Commission has approved Cobalt Partners' proposal to use the site for retail purposes and its conceptual site plan on the condition that no sexually oriented businesses be allowed there. Plans call for four smaller buildings, between 10,000 square feet and 11,700 square feet, and one large 153,859-square-foot building.Trash from the landfill would be moved to the southern edge of the site, which will be capped and converted into green space. Developer Scott Yauck said specific retail tenants are not known at this time, adding: "We envision a mix of high-quality shops and restaurants." Mayor Ryan McCue, a member of the Plan Commission, voted against the project, saying he had hoped something better could have been developed in the location.
More Bad News for Jesse Jackson
Reverend Jesse Jackson not only scolded Obama off the air, he uttered the very bad word not at Obama. Rev. Jackson used an emotionally charged racial slur during a break in a TV interview in which he criticized presidential candidate Barack Obama, Fox News confirmed Wednesday.
Just unbelievable how bad this could be for Jesse Jackson. Fox News will not release the full transcript. I am against the use of the word by anyone.
MillerCoors HQ Moving To Chicago
While it is no surprise that they are moving it is still sad to see them and the jobs go. Many of us cling to hopes they would stay, but they did state they wanted neutral ground and so we are losing them. Better in Chicago then Dallas for Milwaukee.
I read the report in the Milwaukee Journal and saw the reports on TV and in the end, I think MONEY did play a part.
I Am Not Racist!
I have been accused by two local bloggers that have taken interest with me because I am a Conservative Republican and support Wal-Mart. Now one of them does state that I am not a racist, but he is implying it with saying in his blog title “racism is alive in Cudahy”.

Obama has removed criticism of the Troop "Surge" in Iraq on his Website this weekend. His website described the Surge as a "problem" that did not reduce any violence. Obama stuck deep within the democrat party lines and was heavily against the surge.

Milwaukee’s Food Stamp Fraud
While I didn’t have any flood damage from the once in 500 years rain that some are calling the storm in June, I do feel bad for those that truly did have problems.
Then came the big “Food Stamp Fraud” fiasco in Milwaukee. FOX 6 Investigators & Bryan Polcyn did an excellent job of looking at the ensuing problem on Sunday’s News in case you missed it here it is.
Oak Creek Post Office
We are all very happy that the U.S. Post Office is moving from downtown Milwaukee to Oak Creek. It will bring 2200 people to drive and shop in the area. These are not new jobs, but relocations with people still none the less. These people will want to shop and eat around work. Many will use the Park Way and services around the Cudahy, South Milwaukee, Milwaukee, and Oak Creek area. All excellent things for local economies.
There will be concerns of traffic and who (which cities) should pay for road improvements. Should turn lanes be improved on College and Pennsylvania? College Ave west of Pennsylvania is planned to be widened and slightly moved as part of the airport expansion and will have federal funds for most of the project.

Jason Furman Joins Obama Campaign
It’s been reported today that Jason Furman has joined Barack Obama’s Presidential campaign as Economic Policy Advisor. Needless to say, we find Furman’s positions on Wal-Mart disturbing.
Furman made big waves in 2005 with his paper “Wal-Mart: A Progressive Success Story,” which openly supported the Wal-Mart business model and helped the company.
McCain VS. New York Times
Here is the article that the New York Times would not print and asked the McCain camp to rewrite. While a news media should be fair and balanced that is not always the case. If you want to buy a media outfit, you could influence what is printed and what is not. I do think that if you let one party write the other should if you are reporting news.
On to blogs. They are one sided and don’t have to be fair. I was asked where are McCain’s flip-flop posts from me. This from a Liberal blogger who does post the McCain flip-flops, but he himself doesn’t post the Obama ones. He doesn’t have to. The blog is opinioned. Thus fair and balance doesn’t have to be there. That blogs are slanted and sided and that is the point.
Cudahy Car Use Policy Update
I just wanted everyone to know that the Finance Committee voted to sell off the cities car fleet. One will be kept for the engineering department. The other 7 are to be sold off.

If the city of Cudahy doesn’t work out the agreement with Sportsites, the closed meeting may have an impact on the lawsuit. The situation is different, but the ruling could be applied. I am not a lawyer, so the specific meanings and exact ruling may not apply, but they might. The court says excluding the public from closed meetings doesn't automatically shield a government body from the open records and meeting request in a lawsuit.

Fatherhood is a 'true joy' and the “Best thing I ever did” or better to correctly say, the best thing to happen to me. Not that Carrie and I didn’t plan my daughter Ria, because we did, but that GOD allowed me to feel the love and joy of fatherhood. Gone were the feeling and thoughts of holding something so small and precious all the while feeling I could accidentally break her or the guilty feelings of having Ria to hold close to my heart while she sleeps and not being able to do this with my son Ryan. No father should ever have to bury his children or know the pain left by the void, as others and I have.
