I am a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. I believe in sharing my talents and experiences by giving back to the community by giving my time to coaching, church and especially to the disability community. I truly believe that all men and women are created equally.
I ran into Superintendent Jim Heiden at the Cudahy Homecoming football game. There seems to be a burning question within the community so I thought I would ask him direct, “Jim, did you get a $20,000 raise.” Jim replied that he did not; in fact he received no raise.
I placed a call to School Board President, Scott Mulqueen. I asked Scott, “Did Jim receive a $20,000 raise?” Scott replied that No, Jim had not received a $20,000 raise, in fact he received no raise.
I followed up with Scott and asked him about the 30% pay increase. Scott confirmed that the 30% pay increase was made to the Board of Education. Scott explained that they have not had the pay adjusted in some 17 years. When I asked Scott what the financial impact was, he said it came out to an additional $100 per year to each member.
On another note, I would suggest that you visit the School District website (http://www.cudahy.k12.wi.us/index.cfm) to see the FAQ’s on the referendum. I would also strongly suggest that you contact the School District Administration building 414-294-7400 to ask questions direct. The other option would be to contact one of your elected School Board Members (http://www.cudahy.k12.wi.us/board/boardofeducation.cfm)
Since I have become a more vocal advocate on disability issues, I realize that when I go to the source for information, it may be spun to fit the narrative. But, with that being said, I do go to source and get the information first before making my own conclusions.
