The Way I See It!

I am an Ultra-Conservative, Alpha-Male, True Authentic Leader, Type "C" Personality, who is very active in my community; whether it is donating time, clothes or money for Project Concern or going to Common Council meetings and voicing my opinions. As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.

Alternative Energy and Subsidies

Energy, Taxes, Gas

I am going to break with many of my fellow Conservatives as I have done in the past.  I think we need to be looking and using all forms of alternative energy.  However, I don’t think we the taxpayers need to subsidize it.

The problem with subsidizes is when and where do you stop it?  How do you wean them off of it?  It is hard to remove a subsidy after it is given.  Just like the adult who will not leave home, the company or industry getting the subsidy will have issues get off of the taxpayer teat.

Now as new technology is needed I am not against R/D money via tax credits, but once it moves from the R/D table the funding needs to end.  Like the ethanol industry.

Then and only then will there be a will to get a grip on costs and bring the technology to market.

We as a society need a mix of energies and that includes fossil fuel, green and alternative energy and other forms we don’t even know about yet.

What we don’t need is ongoing subsidies to prop up an industry or product that cannot stand on its own.
