The Way I See It!
I am an Ultra-Conservative, Alpha-Male, True Authentic Leader, Type "C" Personality, who is very active in my community; whether it is donating time, clothes or money for Project Concern or going to Common Council meetings and voicing my opinions. As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.
Cudahy Garbage Tax/Fee Increase Passes
Let me speak bluntly and candidly here.
FEES are TAXES Too!
FEES are still a form of taxation.
FEES + TAXES = Double Taxation?
FEES are nothing more than sneaky tax increases!
The idea of hiding a tax on families and calling it a FEE is a cowardly action!
While we are free to choose our actions, we are not free to choose the consequences of our actions. - S.Covey
Well Cudahy Taxpayers remember these three names come the April 2013 Elections
DISTRICT 2 - Mary Schissel
DISTRICT 3 - Mark Otto
DISTRICT 4 - Jason Litkowiec
Why you might ask?
Well these three alderpersons don’t get it that FEES are TAXES. They don’t get it that we need to be creative and make cuts instead of going to the taxpayer every time for more money. Tax increases disguised as fees is wrong!
As long as the budget is finite, budgets/projects do have to be justified to the check-writers (who allegedly represent us)
Out of control government and spending is like a hand grenade with the pin pulled out, it will blowup at some point.
You even have to ask Mayor Day, you could have vetoed it, but you didn’t
"Circumstances do not make a man, they reveal him.” Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
FEES are really nothing more than disguised tax increases!
Where do these FEES go?
To the general fund or truly for Garbage pickup and process?
Now, even our City Accountant offered up a compromise to just increase it $5, but it went nowhere.
When I pay my taxes, I am supporting all of my government's action, like them or not.
As Cudahy keeps losing out on economic development (Wal-Mart going to South Milwaukee) and Cudahy keeps increasing taxes/fees, you have to wonder if the elected officials in Cudahy want Cudahy to fail!
We are driving businesses out and telling new ones to stay away by raising FEES/TAXES!
I will give kudos to DISTRICT 1 - Joseph Mikolajczak and DISTRICT 5 - Richard Bartoshevich for voting NO on increasing the TAXES/FEES.
Now someone let me also know that in the past the Garbage FEE was done as a temporary FEE so one police officer, one firefighter, and two DPW workers would not have been laid off. And as it turns out Cudahy had the funds and didn’t need to enact the FEE in the first place. We had accounting tracking issues I was told. In the day and age of computers I find that hard to understand.
Is there a better solution?
Of course! You bet the rational approach!
Rather than this kind of hidden tax called a FEE they should have been creative and scrapped the FEE. You know the lazy easy take it to the taxpayer’s wallet and they should have started with a fresh sheet of paper and start again to craft a real long term solution.
This subject has even made someone take a pile of dog crap and put it on my front step with a note and read “Since you are full of it here is some more. Stay out of the city business. – The City”
When you exercise your freedom to express yourself at the lowest level, you ultimately condemn yourself to live at that level.
Two things –
1. Who is the City?
2. If you have a note and want it read, don’t put it under the pile.
Without that Moral, Ethical barometer known as GOD, humans will revert to beastly behavior.
I started washing it down and my neighbor told me to take pictures, so I did. Those for another post.
- Side notes
- I am hearing District 3 Alderman Mark Otto is considering running for Cudahy Mayor with Former Mayor Ryan McCue’s help.
- Kevin Fech is not running for Mayor
