The Way I See It!

I am an Ultra-Conservative, Alpha-Male, True Authentic Leader, Type "C" Personality, who is very active in my community; whether it is donating time, clothes or money for Project Concern or going to Common Council meetings and voicing my opinions. As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.

Opting Out Of the Union

Union

**** The things you "say out of anger" do not come with a return policy.  Watch what you say and how you say it.  ****

There are many public sector workers that want to opt out of the union, but cannot under the current rules.

I know one of those people and not too long ago they told me so.  However…

Email exchange, my responses are in blue text.

I asked,

Didn’t they want out of the union?

Yes.  That didn't necessarily mean by any means necessary.  My consistent and repeating point that the ends don't justify the means.

First, how did you think opting out of the union would happen?  Do you think it would just be so easy?  I understand that answer as well.  If it is painless and easy, no problem.

No, not painless and easy, but not stomping on others either.

Who did he stomp on and what?  Never mind, you will just give me the union plug.

You're saying there are no hardworking low paid union workers in the state, who didn't protest and yet were affectively stomped on when it was unnecessary?  That's a lie and you know it.  It certainly isn't a plug or angle being pushed by the unions - they weren't looking out for those people either, that's why I am.  You seem utterly incapable of processing any point of view or providing a defense outside what you've been given.

And if you think the union cares, they don't.  And what about all those people who want out of the union.  Who is fighting for them?

I said the unions weren't looking out for them.  They don't care.  Nor do the Republicans.

I NEVER said there are no hardworking public union workers, so please don’t put words in my mouth or making things up just to gin up your point.  Where are those hardworking low paid union workers in the state when it came time to stand up and have their voices heard?  Have they EVER voiced dissent to the union or did they just reap what the union did for them.  Staying silent all those years means, status quo works for me.  And you are stand up for them how exactly?  The option is still there to be in the union or NOT!  I haven’t been given any point of view, I did the research, I looked for common ground and every time you gave me a union excuse, I researched it and shot it down.  Each time seeing that what you told me wasn’t fact or truthful coming from the union reps. I have been given anything and make my mind up as I see fit.  Just because I am not bending to your viewpoint and sticking with mine doesn’t change the fact of it.  I am stay consistent to who I am, who I was, and who I want to be!  I have no problem breaking from that if it is needed, but now isn’t one of those times.  Now is a time for common sense and that is what I am basing my support on.  I am using my mind with logic and reasoning rather than my heart with feelings and emotions.

---------------------------------------------

Openness does not preclude or eliminate logic.  Regardless, you cannot reason with people that do not want to be reasoned with.  The brain will reject patterns it sees if those patterns don't support their own ideology or the results they wish to be there.

Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so most people don't recognize them.

- Ann Landers

Having a dissenting opinion isn't something to be concerned about, unless someone points out massive holes in your logic and you stick to it anyway.

Maybe things have changed and they no longer want out of the union.

Now that Walker is giving them that opportunity, they don’t want it, I think.  I never got a straight answer!

Yes, no, maybe so!

I am guessing since he doesn’t like to answer my questions and when he does it is line after line of something that isn’t an answer it is a non-answer answer and when I told them that he told me that why do I write such long posts.

Okay, deflection!!!!

Just how many of the rules of the left were used in his attack and defense of his position?

Mind you, he was someone I considered a conservative, but he has now admitted that is most likely the mushy middle.  I call that change the PUP (Public Union Party) influence.  To a point, I understand it since it is directly taking food off his table and the scary unknown is scary.

Putting up a fuss doesn’t mean it is right!

It has been said that the only difference between perception and reality is that it’s harder to change perception.

I think he thought (guessing here) that Walker and the Union would have without a fight just compromised that the union would allow the workers to opt out of the union and not pay dues.  Just like that, if only Walker asked!

Yes, that is clearly, what happened or could have.

Easy-peasey, but that evil Walker (which he did vote for and never will again unless extreme circumstances) did this and stomped on the people.  It might be that he is out of line for jumping from assumption to conviction while skipping over investigation of what the union leaders/bosses hand them as information, truth, and facts.

Trust, but verify!

- Ronald Reagan

Some call that propaganda, but those willing just soak it up inside their media echo chamber they are repeated over and over and over again until they are accepted as fact.

No real social change has ever been brought about without a revolution... revolution is but thought carried into action.

Emma Goldman

I don’t look at this as sharing the pain, I look at this as the rest of the economy has been contradicting, and there is always a lag between what happens in the private sector and what happens in the public sector.  The thing is, market forces cause things to happen in the private sector and in the public sector, an artificial force has to be applied when the government leaders don’t react to the reality of things.  Cuts and deep cuts have to be made.

Let’s go back to this decision and ask yourself this, are the public unions standing together or are they jumping up and down saying we are not part of the other public unions?  Have they ever done that, stand apart from each other?

United you stand, divided you fall.  The truth isn't always pleasant.

Doyle messed up the budget that Walker is fixing.  The out of control spending has to stop.

Governor Walker is doing this for all of the citizens of Wisconsin and the good of Wisconsin, for the long run not the short-term like has been done in the past!

Walker is not stomping on the workers, he is giving them freedom to decide if they want to be in the union or not, if they want to pay union dues or not, and asking them to pay a small portion of their benefits.

That isn’t stomping on them, that is giving them choices and ask very little of them!

Totalitarianism is forcing some one to join a union to work at a place of business.

It is probably not unrealistic to say that nothing less than a full paradigm shift is required to get there from here, but overall the Walker Bill and plan has a lot more positives than negatives.  Yes, it is a culture shock!

It's simple: people fear what they don't fully understand, and ignorance is bliss.

You don’t have to love the decision, just understand it, and live with it.

Cuts are painful and unpopular.  No one likes having money or in some cases goodies taken away.

It is truly incredible that people still support the union bosses and remain determined to maintain the status quo claiming they want reform.  That's some Alanis Morissette-grade irony alright.

The only people who will be devastated by this bill will be the overpaid union bosses / "leaders" and the river of campaign funds to the Democrats.

The truth will always offend someone, but that doesn't make it a bad thing.

Believe me, this isn't a question of principle.  It's all politics and the real red herring is that this is about labor rights, it is about raw unopposed POWER!

This all comes down to two words – GREED and POWER!

The Union Bosses and Democrats who are hell bent on clinging to power at all costs are losing it and they don’t like it!

First and foremost it is about keeping the union dues rolling in.

It is about not allowing workers to opt out.

It is about not allowing the unions to be decertified.

With the union bosses and the democrats with the hooks into the public unions and dependent on the union dues to exists, the truth is it wasn’t going to happen so easy-peasey now was it.

A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.  A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.  From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship”.  - Alexander Fraser Tytler

This topic will require another look into the current collective bargaining negotiations in another post.

God created man with freewill to choose between truth and ignorance; charity and greed; love and hate.  We all know which choice is the best one, but we choose the wrong path because it satisfies our immediate desires.

When you confuse debating with arguing and saying, “You don’t know how to argue with me!”  Arguing is something you do when you are taking it personal or making it personal.  Emotions rather than simple facts and the truth ruled the day.

Life is change, growth is optional, choose wisely.

I do wish to stay friends with my friend, but that is a two way street!
