Wisconsin Families Forward Press Event Thursday June 9th
This is an important message for families with young individuals with disabilities.
The Legislature's Joint Finance Committee voted recently to freeze community long-term care funding in Wisconsin starting June 30, 2011. This means enrollments will stop as of this date and hundreds, perhaps thousands of people age 21 and younger will be on waiting lists for services INDEFINITELY.
A statewide group of concerned families - Wisconsin Families Forward - has formed to specifically share the stories of young people with disabilities and their families who now face uncertainty after high school graduation.
There is a Milwaukee event where parents and youth will be talking about this important issue. Here are the details:
540 S 1st Street
Milwaukee, WI 53204
This is an opportunity to get information and share our stories with Legislators and the Press. Please help spread the word.
Legislators need to understand our lives. If you are unable to attend this event, please contact your legislators and let them know how important these long-term care programs are to you and your family.
