I am a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. I believe in sharing my talents and experiences by giving back to the community by giving my time to coaching, church and especially to the disability community. I truly believe that all men and women are created equally.
This has been a week where I am beginning to feel my age. The aging part has been coming from the thought that my two oldest kids are entering their final days of elementary school.
On Wednesday night, the Mike and Mike Show at the Cudahy Middle School, held a parents orientation meeting. Both Mike's have a lot of enthusiam and I have confidence that the kids will enjoy the new environment and get a good education. My daughter shared her own stories about the 6th grade trip to the Middle School on Friday.
My wife and I are working on our first Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for our son entering Middle School. My goal in the next couple of days is to work with my son and have him more involved in his plan. We will probably put it in a power point presentation, much like the one we used on Disability Advocacy Day.
Thursday night, my daughter had her last grade school orchestra concert. Is was a great show. It really shows how far she has come along in her violin playing. On Monday May 16th, my oldest son will participate in his first band concert. Mr Cook, the band director has written a piece that includes a solo for my son on the drums. The band concert will be held at 7:00 at the High School.
All week long, the older kids have been bringing home notes for their 6th gade banquet.
When people tell you that time goes fast and you need to stop and enjoy the times, I have to admit, I always thought they were crazy. But now that I have kids getting ready for Middle School, I can attest to the fact that time does fly by.
