DOJ raises concerns with Madison DA over e-mail threat
The email was among a flurry of threats legislators received during the height of the debate over Gov. Scott Walker's budget-repair bill.
DOJ spokesman Bill Cosh said in a statement that the department's Division of Criminal Investigation handled investigations of multiple threats that members of the Wisconsin Legislature received beginning Feb. 21.
"In the judgment of investigators, some presented a need for more intense investigating; some did not," Cosh said.
DCI investigated one threat received March 9 and "concluded it did not present an imminent threat but presented sufficient probable cause that criminal behavior had occurred," Cosh said.
Cosh said the matter was referred to Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne. On March 23 Cosh said the DOJ "learned through press reports" that the

The Madison DA's office could be not reached for comment.
The DOJ is contesting a complaint filed by Ozanne to halt the collective bargaining legislation.
On Thursday, dozens of legislators received identical letters that made threats. Capitol Police were collecting the letters.
DA says he will file charges over e-mail threat
Ozanne said he was waiting for a Division of Criminal Investigation agent to swear to the complaint and would then file charges.
He made the comments after the Department of Justice expressed concerns the case had not advanced.
