I am a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. I believe in sharing my talents and experiences by giving back to the community by giving my time to coaching, church and especially to the disability community. I truly believe that all men and women are created equally.
What started out as an Eagle Scout Project, (http://www.wwswd.org/Photos-Sisson-Eagle-Project/Sisson-Eagle.htm) has continued for 25 years now. Tom Sisson had an idea to add Special Racers to the New Berlin Soap Box Derby (http://www.nbsoapboxderby.org/). Tom created the S Class for the Derby. Tom also created the special car that allows a Scout to ride along with the Special Racer.
For those of you who have always had an interest in Soap Box Derby, but never knew where to find it, this Sunday Sept 12, at 1230, Tyler and his friends will be racing in the Derby. The Special Racers start at 12:30 and will be done in time to see the Packer game at 3:00. The race is held at Valley View Park in New Berlin. Besides the S Class, they do have more competitive racing throughout the day.
Race day does include a silent auction and concessions are available.
There is no greater joy for a parent then to see their child having fun. Tyler always has a smile on his face as he speeds down the track. We have yet to win the final race, but for Tyler it really doesn't matter, he enjoys himself throught the Saturday practice as well as the Sunday race.
I want to first thank Tom for coming up with this great idea of Inclusion. I would also like to thank the New Berlin Soap Box Derby people for continuing this fine tradition.
